Our history
The authorization that made the Modernista Cabinet a reality
The history of Gabinet Modernista born of a bold vision: Jaume Casadesús dreamed of reproducing Gaudí’s original furniture, preserving the essence of his work.
It was not until April 1991 when this vision was consolidated. Gabinet Modernista obtained a unique and crucial authorization to carry out their commercial project, which allowed them to use the molds of the original pieces to create replicas. This authorization was granted and endorsed by Mr. Joan Bassegoda, Director of the Gaudí Chair and Mr. Josep M. Garrut, Director of the Gaudí museum.
Thanks to this institutional support, and with the invaluable collaboration of the Cortina master craftsmen, Cabinet Modernista was able to make its commitment to Gaudí’s legacy a reality.
Since then, Gabinet Modernista has been the first, unique and original company in the world with this authorization. Our commitment is to pay tribute to the integral vision of Antoni Gaudí, who filled every corner of his creations with art.
Following this same philosophy, we have extended our passion for Modernism to other decorative arts and the work of other great architects. So, we don’t just reproduce pieces, but we give life to the legacy of an era that forever changed art and design.
Our furniture replicas were evaluated and supervised by the director of the Gaudí Chair himself, Professor Joan Bassegoda, who certified that they were made from the molds of the original furniture designed by Gaudí.Today, our commitment to authenticity continues in all our collections. That is why each of our replicas and reproductions —from furniture to ironwork and ceramics— is certified by the Gabinet Modernista with a seal that guarantees craftsmanship and fidelity to Gaudí’s genius. Thus, we offer you not just a replica, but a piece of history with a soul that comes to life in your hands.
Catalonia, cradle of Modernism
In our local workshops, each piece is created with the passion and legacy of a land that transformed art and design
Master craftsmen give life to the legacy of this land that forever transformed art and design.
Our process is purely artisanal, with a legacy that begins in 1991 with a unique treasure: the molds of Gaudí’s original furniture. With the same passion and experience, we have expanded our collection to include replicas of other decorative arts such as forging, ceramics or glasswork, also using molds to guarantee their fidelity and quality.
Each work is made with the utmost care, and the subtle differences that arise from the craftsman’s hands give it its own personality. We believe that beauty resides in the details and in the footprint left by passion, offering you not only an exceptional replica, but a piece with a unique soul.
