Forging: Gaudi’s Passion for Metal

Forging was one of Gaudí’s most beloved materials, a craft he learned as a young man thanks to his father and grandfather being coppersmiths. This personal connection helped him understand the essence of the craft, taking metal to a new dimension in his works.

He worked hand in hand with outstanding forgers such as the brothers Josep and Lluís Badia, creating masterful designs for works such as the Palau Güell. He designed wrought iron pieces such as gates, railings and grilles that, with their organic shapes, decorated his buildings.

At Gabinete Modernista, we honor this heritage. Each of our forge replicas and reproductions is created by master craftsmen who continue that tradition. With passion and mastery, we transform metal into unique pieces that bring Gaudí’s legacy to life.

Since the early 70’s, we have created each piece with effort and thanks to the collaboration of the owners of the original works themselves. Our replicas are the first and only ones to be made from molds of the originals, guaranteeing absolute fidelity in form and material.
