Description

The Batlló chair is a faithful reproduction of the design Antoni Gaudí came up with for the Casa Batlló in Barcelona, together with the dining table. Today, it is on display at the Gaudí Museum, located in Barcelona’s Park Güell. Despite its simplicity, this chair stands out for its meticulously cared for details, made of solid oak and with a satin varnished finish that gives it a unique warmth, characteristic of great pieces of furniture.

Its simple lines, adapted to the human form, make it a key reference in contemporary design and one of the first examples of ergonomic furniture. Gaudí, by reducing the structure to a minimum, avoided straight lines, opting for an aesthetic that stands out for its fluidity. The slight ergonomic inclination of the backrest is aimed at user comfort, while the circular recesses on either side of the backrest, which might appear to be light decoration, are in fact functional cut-outs designed to facilitate movement of the chair when necessary.

The backrest follows the contour of the seat, perfectly balancing the symmetry of the structure, contributing to a piece that is as functional as it is aesthetically innovative.
